3-day long weekend Introduction to Ceramics

Print PDF

Ceramics

Dates: 17-19 May, 26-28 July, 23-25 August, 27-29 Sept

Price: €195 (bring a friend for €175) Price includes all materials and firings for 3 days

€150 for two days out of the three.

For those who have had little or no experience of pottery, it can be a little daunting to work in the studio and learn to create hand built and thrown forms. This five day course introduces you to all the basic techniques: you will learn to coil, slab and throw pots and to sculpt in clay. You will try various decorative techniques, including sgraffito, slip-painting, underglazing and glazing.

Have you thought about making your own Raku kiln?  If you're a potter with access to an electric kiln for biscuit firing and would like to build a raku kiln, test it and take it home in the boot of your car, we are happy to have you along for two days of this 3-day course - the Saturday to make your kiln and the Sunday to test it.  Materials cost approximately €220 and we will order these for you (given about 2-3 weeks notice).  The two-day participation will cost you €150.  Call Adrian on 0879696901 to discuss.

CeramicsStudents can embrace the full range of techniques and cover as much ground as a full term at the Pottery. The classes of up to 10 people work from 10.00am - 4.30pm each day, with 90 mins break for lunch - long enough to visit the various snack venues in Kinsale.
